Raegan Payne

Raegan Payne is an award-winning playwright whose plays are regularly produced and performed in the U.S. and internationally. Innovations in stem cell technologies have long been a fascination for her and are the context for her play Timeless: A Scientific Comedy. Payne began college as a pre-med student and only later discovered a love of playwriting, graduating with a double major in English and Theater. She studied Shakespeare at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University, and learned improvisation and sketch writing at the Groundlings School in Los Angeles, best known as a pipeline of talent for Saturday Night Live.

Payne’s newest play is “The Dying Declaration of Madge Oberholtzer,” part of the Scripps Ranch Theatre’s New Works Studio in San Diego. Raegan is also a proud member of Ammunition Theatre Company’s writing group in Los Angeles. Next year she is looking forward to being part of Iceland’s Klaustrid Artists Residency. Born in Murray, Kentucky, and raised in Louisville, Raegan currently lives in Southern California where she fosters kittens. Reach her on Twitter: @raeganpayne or via her blog thegoodmuse.com.
