Rebecca Gayle Howell

Rebecca Gayle Howell is a poet, translator, and documentarian. She is the recipient of a poetry fellowship from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Jules Chametzky Prize in Literary Translation, and longterm support from the Kentucky Foundation for Women. Her translation of Amal al-Jubouri's "Hagar Before the Occupation / Hagar After the Occupation" (Alice James Books) was listed by the Library Journal as a best book of 2011 and was a finalist for Three
Percent's Best Translated Book Award. A Kentucky native, Howell earned a combined MFA at Drew University and is currently a PhD candidate at Texas Tech University. Her forthcoming collection, "Render / An Apocalypse" was selected by Nick Flynn for the CSU Poetry Center's First Book Prize; it will be released in the spring of 2013.
